Just like the previous season of star-studded PSL, six teams will be competing in PSL 5. PSL 5 is set to start on February 2020, and the franchises have started preparing the drafts of players they want and players they already have. Due to the changing world rankings, PSL 5 teams are looking for many new and successful players. And there is an expected rise in team budgets.
INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS
Before we talk about, what will be this version’s teams, let us talk about the international players this season. PSL welcomes every international cricketer except BCCI. This exclusion is not hidden from anyone and the public is well aware of the reasons. In the latest season of PSL, over 40 foreign cricketers participated in PSL. 14 out of them came to Pakistan for the season’s final games.
Players from eight countries contributed to PSL 4. These were England, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Afghanistan.
PSL 5 teams
The six participants of PSL 2020 are Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Quetta gladiators, and Peshawar Zalmi. The teams are led by Shoaib Malik, Salman Butt, Muhammad Sami, Imad Wasim, Sarfaraz Ahmad, and Darren Sammy respectively.
Each team is packed with quality bowlers, exceptional batsmen, and impeccable all-rounders. PSL 5 new team – Multan Sultans was a flop in their 1st season, but are expected to come back with a bang this year.
Islamabad United has won the title two times. Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators have been successful once, with Quetta being the defending champion currently. This season’s matches are about to be held in Pakistan as per PM’s wish.
Several teams and venue changes are expected in PSL 5 and can be acknowledged by following PSL 5 news. Lahore Qalandars, exploring new talent all past year, is expected to make big changes as they are the most unsuccessful team of PSL history.
